Wynberg Improvement District

About Us

athol Manager of the Wynberg Improvement DistrictAthol Swanson is a born and bred Capetonian.  He has had a long and successful career in Property Development and Management.

After successfully managing the Constantia Village Shopping Centre for ten years, a change was in order and he took up the appointment as Manager of the Wynberg Improvement District, a position which he has held since 2003.

Athol has built good working relationships with appropriate officials in the City and also Wynberg’s SAPS Management which has led to a reduction of crime in the area.  His goal to make Wynberg a safe and clean place both for visitors and residents and an attractive investment opportunity to investors is well on its way to being realised.

To continue to assist with the revitalisation, promotion and urban management and provide an environment that is safe, clean and provides visitors and the Wynberg community with a pleasant shopping, working and living experience by topping up those services provided by the City.

In partnership with the City we will continue to work toward the economic upliftment of the area by maintaining a level of safety and cleanliness to promote the use of and investment in the area for both the retail, office and residential sector.

To attract shoppers and businesses to the area
To attract new investors and investment into the area
To encourage the maintenance and upgrading of private properties and public spaces in the area.
To assist with the management and solution to the issues of people living on the streets of Wynberg.
